POSITION PURPOSE / IMPORTANT APPLICATION INFORMATION The Seasonal Specialist positions are responsible for a variety of maintenance work including mowing, edging, planting, irrigating, fertilizing, and light construction. These positions work in a variety of areas including Athletic Fields, Greenhouse, Open Space and, Parks, Mechanics, Standley Lake, and the Promenade. These positions are physically demanding in nature with exposure to extreme weather conditions. Most positions work four 10-hour days during the week (Monday through Thursday or Tuesday through Friday) or at Standley Lake (Friday through Monday), however hours may vary with possible weekend, holiday, and special events. Some positions available beginning in March. Most positions will begin after April 14th and last through October 10th. Operates light and heavy equipment including chippers, chainsaws, landscape construction equipment, skid-steers, industrial mowers, pick-up trucks (as approved by supervisor), mowers, backpack blowers, small dump trucks (as approved by supervisor), or similar equipment 4. Performs general custodial work at public facilities and open space areas including removing trash and cleaning of shelters and restrooms 5. Painting designated facilities and structures 6. Assists with a variety of construction-related projects and playground maintenance 7. Assists an Irrigator while making repairs 8. Performs irrigation system checks to ensure the system is operating efficiently 9. Possesses a valid driver’s license and maintains a safe driving record (for those approved to drive) 10.
