About the Opportunity THE POSITION The Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department is recruiting to fill positions for Deputy Sheriff Trainee (Operations). Trainees will be required to pass an extensive background investigation and successfully complete a POST Certified Basic Law Enforcement Academy. The Deputy Sheriff Trainee (Operations) will attend the Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certified basic law enforcement academy. About the Opportunity THE POSITION The Deputy Sheriff Trainee (Adult Detention) will attend the Stanislaus County Adult Detention CORE academy. This individual escorts, receives, registers, controls, supervises and cares for incarcerated persons and may be assigned to either the Sheriff’s Detention Center (SDC) East and West Facilities, Minimum Housing Unit or Re-entry and Enhanced Alternatives to Custody Training Center (REACT). Deputies must be mature, emotionally stable and able to work effectively in an environment that is often hostile, unpredictable and occasionally unpleasant. Deputies must have the ability to direct and instruct groups of incarcerated persons ; have a tolerant attitude towards those confined; be able to respond to a wide variety of situations and exercise sound judgment. About the Opportunity THE POSITION The Deputy Sheriff Trainee (Adult Detention) will attend the Stanislaus County Adult Detention CORE academy. This individual escorts, receives, registers, controls, supervises and cares for incarcerated persons and may be assigned to either the Sheriff’s Detention Center (SDC) East and West Facilities, Minimum Housing Unit or Re-entry and Enhanced Alternatives to Custody Training Center (REACT). Deputies must be mature, emotionally stable and able to work effectively in an environment that is often hostile, unpredictable and occasionally unpleasant. The Position Current vacancy is a temporary, non-benefited position. The list developed from this recruitment will be used for a limited period to send selected applicants to a law enforcement academy. Female applicants encouraged to apply. Job Requirements and Minimum Qualifications Duties may include but are not limited to the following: Attends classroom and physical agility training at a California P.O.S.T. certified basic police academy. Participates in classroom work and independent study while attending a police academy. Learns the various laws of arrest, search and seizure (P.C. 832) and acquires skill and proficiency in the use of approved firearms.
