The Position: Assistant Professor of Architecture - Ethnic Studies Affinity Cluster Cal Poly Pomona’s Department of Architecture (CPP ARC ) is seeking a new Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Architecture to join the faculty in Fall 2024. We are especially interested in candidates who are committed to advancing the discipline and profession of architecture and who demonstrate an ability or potential to actively engage in and support Inclusive Excellence within our diverse academic community. The successful candidate will bring an Ethnic Studies lens to architectural discourse and design by focusing on the study of minoritized communities, their contributions and/or histories. Focused minoritized groups for this position are Indigenous people, Native Americans, African Americans, Latinx, and Asian Americans. Areas of expertise may be in ethnicity, gender, class, generation, language, and/or sexuality; and or action/participatory practices, or community-based design involving these populations. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge, skills and abilities would be: graduation from an accredited college with a degree in structural, architectural or civil engineering with desired course work in properties of building materials, engineering mathematics, and stress and force analysis in wood, concrete and steel frame structures; and three years of experience performing structural, architectural, or civil engineering building design, review or inspection work related to building code compliance. A Master's degree in engineering or architecture may substitute for one year of work experience.
