Essential Job Functions
The Department of Public Health, Health Facilities Inspection Division seeks a skilled, resilient and highly motivated Health Facilities Evaluator I. The position will survey hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and related health care facilities, to enforce federal, State and local licensing regulations:
  • Participates in conducting in-depth environmental surveys and life safety inspections of health care facilities and providers to determine compliance with state licensing and federal certification requirements.
  • Investigates complaints, documenting all evidence related to non-compliance for possible legal action. May survey or inspect secondary or indirect patient care activities.
  • Writes comprehensive narrative reports of findings. Collects and indexes all pertinent evidence.
  • Writes statements of deficiencies and reviews proposed Plans of Correction.
  • Attends conferences, hearings, and judicial proceedings where testimony or presentation of verbal or written findings may be required.
  • Attends meetings, training, and in-service session to maintain professional, technical, and program knowledge and skills. Proofreads all documents, reports, and materials before submitting for review and approval; ensures all relevant documents are included before submitting to supervisor.
  • Uses assigned technology to conduct surveys, investigations and inspections including but not limited to laptop, portable and stationary computers, standardized office function software and printing and reproduction equipment, specialized governmental software, and digital scanning and imaging equipment.
  • Provide consultation on environmental, NFPA code and life safety, and indirect patient care issues to team colleagues, especially clinical team members.
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with coworkers, consultants and other agencies.
  • Advises and assist health facility administrators in matters relating to the state requirements for licensing, construction, and operation of health facilities.
  • Provide consultation on environmental, NFPA code and life safety, and indirect patient care issues to team colleagues, especially clinical team members.
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with coworkers, consultants and other agencies.
  • Advises and assist health facility administrators in matters relating to the state requirements for licensing, construction, and operation of health facilities.

Requirements
MUST BE A PERMANENT COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES EMPLOYEE WHO HOLDS THE PAYROLL TITLE OF HEALTH FACILITIES EVALUATOR I.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Good verbal and written communication and customer service skills.
  • Proficient in the operations of computer systems.
  • Must be motivated; able to work independently and as a team player.
  • Have a positive attitude.
  • Be flexible in work assignments.
  • Be able to prioritize assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent attendance record
  • Demonstrate ability to handle high profile assignments
  • Ability to main discretion and strict confidentiality
