This position will work under the supervision of State Park Peace Officer Supervisor (Ranger). T he incumbent’s duties will include public safety, law enforcement, and interpretation, resource protection in a variety of diverse environments, patrolling Hearst Castle, campgrounds, beaches, and visitor center areas. This position will be responsible for special security programs including evening and night security operations, evening tours security, alarm and detection systems, and security gates. The incumbent will be expected to complete the annual POST K-9 team evaluation and meet Department standards as required in the Canine Handler Handbook. In addition, the incumbent will participate in K-9 and bomb detection training at Hearst Castle® and will work closely with other supervisors to support overall District operations. In order to be eligible for this position, candidates must have a minimum of two years’ experience as a DPR State Park Peace Officer (Ranger) or (Lifeguard). The incumbent will be expected to complete the annual POST K-9 team evaluation. This vacancy is available to current Canine Handlers who must have completed the annual POST K-9 team evaluation and have met the Department standards as required in the Canine Handler Handbook.
