Job Summary The Professional Development and Internships Specialist is responsible for implementing and assessing all professional development activities for students in the College of Engineering. The incumbent will strengthen the relationship with current COE industry partners and will create new connections with local industry for the purpose of providing internship opportunities for engineering students and potential collaborations for faculty in the college. To achieve this goal, the individual occupying this position will collaborate with the CSULB Career Development Center, the Academic Internship Office, and other campus offices. He/she will work with the engineering departments, the COE Director of Development, and with the Dean's Advisory Board to identify strategies to engage students and to attract support from industry partners. The incumbent will be directly responsible for supervising student assistants and for managing all the office activities including mentoring and preparing students for internships, facilitating processes such as internship applications, monitoring the hiring process, maintaining records of student hiring, and collaborating with the appropriate University units on implementing more efficient procedures. Job Summary The Professional Development and Internships Specialist is responsible for implementing and assessing all professional development activities for students in the College of Engineering. The incumbent will strengthen the relationship with current COE industry partners and will create new connections with local industry for the purpose of providing internship opportunities for engineering students and potential collaborations for faculty in the college. To achieve this goal, the individual occupying this position will collaborate with the CSULB Career Development Center, the Academic Internship Office, and other campus offices. He/she will work with the engineering departments, the COE Director of Development, and with the Dean's Advisory Board to identify strategies to engage students and to attract support from industry partners. The incumbent will be directly responsible for supervising student assistants and for managing all the office activities including mentoring and preparing students for internships, facilitating processes such as internship applications, monitoring the hiring process, maintaining records of student hiring, and collaborating with the appropriate University units on implementing more efficient procedures. Finally, the incumbent will be responsible for maintaining an updated website, and for acting as the liaison between COE, the engineering student organizations, and the AESB. This position reports directly to the Associate Dean for Academic Programs.
