HEAD COACH, WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Cal State LA, invites applications for the above Administrator III position.
The University: Cal State LA, under the leadership of President William A. Covino, is one of 23 campuses of the California State University system. Founded in 1947, the University is in the city of Los Angeles, adjacent to the San Gabriel Valley, and has more than 27,000 students who reflect the rich ethnic diversity of the area.
The Position: Reporting to the Executive Director, Intercollegiate Athletics or his/her designee, the Head Coach's responsibilities include: coordinating and attending practices and competitions; providing technical expertise and sound educational methods to aid athletes in improving the quality of their performance; creating effective game plans and developing and communicating adjustments of these plans where necessary to student-athletes; supervising and evaluating assistant coaches; developing plans to utilize high schools, community colleges, and club teams as recruitment resources; identifying well-qualified scholarship recipients; interviewing prospective student-athletes in accordance with regulations established by the NCAA or CCAA; assisting student-athletes with the recovery/rehabilitation from injuries in accordance with guidelines provided by qualified training/medical personnel; ordering equipment; scheduling; budgeting; gathering and maintaining adequate team and player records and statistics; participating in community outreach programs; promoting the sports program and participating in public relations activities; and fundraising. The incumbent is responsible for enforcement of institutional, conference, and NCAA regulations relevant to Cal State LA Women's Basketball.
Required Qualifications: A bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university and demonstrated successful coaching experience at the collegiate and/or professional level. The incumbent must have excellent communication skills, administrative abilities, and a strong commitment to the academic and athletic success of the student-athlete. The incumbent must have a current CPR and first aid certification, which must be renewed annually. The incumbent must have a demonstrated interest and/or ability to work in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with Cal State LA. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current Cal State LA employees who may apply for this position.
Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. A comprehensive benefits package is provided.
Appointment: The Administrator III appointment will be made under the guidelines for management and supervisory employees of the California State University. All rights and benefits associated with this appointment are governed by the Management Personnel Plan. As a condition of the appointment, the selected incumbent must present proof of a current CPR and first-aid certificate.
Temporary appointment that will expire on/or before March 1, 2021.
This position is a "designated position" in the California State University's Conflict of Interest Code. The successful candidate accepting this position is required to file Conflict of Interest forms subject to the regulations of the Fair Political Practices Commission.
