JOB SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of a Supervisor of Electrical and Instrumentation Repair, incumbents assemble, install, maintain, calibrate, troubleshoot and repair and/or replace electrical, electronic, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, digital and analog control equipment and systems; operate, maintain, calibrate and repair pneumatic and electronic testing and measuring instruments; maintain records and prepare reports on maintenance and repair work, calibration readings and related data; order parts, supplies and equipment; instruct lower level classes in the series; read, interpret and prepare schematic diagrams, blueprints, sketches and equipment specifications; perform math calculations related to the trades; drive to and perform inspections on new construction; maintain shop area; and perform related duties as required. Review submittals via the California Electronic Reporting System database for hazardous material business plans, hazardous waste which must be submitted by all businesses handling, manufacturing or storing hazardous wastes. Inspect facilities with underground storage tanks (USTs) and those that store hazardous materials/hazardous waste to ensure compliance with state guidelines. Issue permits for the installation, modification, or closure of USTs; identify areas where unauthorized releases have occurred, document condition, of site and complete reports. Licenses and Certifications: Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California Driver's License by time of appointment and a satisfactory driving record. Possession of, or ability to obtain, an ICC UST Inspector Certification within six (6) months of employment. Possession of, or ability to obtain, an OSFM APSA Inspector Certification within one (1) year of employment.
