This includes community outreach including social media, ensuring State and Federal mandated language requirements are met, pop-up mobile voting, registration and on-going partnership with cities, community organizations, and stakeholders. The Community Program Specialist (CPS) will manage State mandated language election requirements including working with vendors to route documents needing translation and assisting with quality control of all necessary election materials ahead of each election. This process includes but is not limited to, managing and tracking a high volume of documents and ensuring elections comply with all State mandated language standards, meet Election Code and Voters Choice Act language guidelines, including the tracking and proofing of language assistance materials, such as language reference ballots and signage. The CPS will also be responsible for working with contracted vendors to ensure that the translation, routing, and proofing of election materials in required State and Federally mandated languages is completed timely and accurately ahead of each election cycle. This position will also assist with special projects as needed. Additional responsibilities: This position will participate in post-election canvass/audit of election results. Provide post-election analysis and summaries of election services as it pertains to outreach and community engagement. Create or respond to reports regularly on any issues. The Position THE POSITION: The City Auditor’s Office is seeking two interns who are curious, analytical, and interested in learning about Portland’s transition to a new electoral system in 2024. This position will be critical in educating Portlanders about new voting districts, ranked-choice voting, and everything they need to know to vote in November 2024. The position will last 12 weeks at 40 hours per week during June, July, and August. Interns will be managed by the City Auditor’s Office, in conjunction with other city partners working on voter education. As the sixth elected official in the City of Portland, the Auditor is independent of City Council and accountable only to the public.
