GENERAL PURPOSE: Assists the Parks Division workers to help ensure safe, clean, well-maintained grounds and facilities at assigned locations. Positions are part year, eight to nine months, 40 hours per week Monday-Friday with medical coverage option only. This position is primarily looking for mowers. Position Description Are you seeking a hands-on opportunity that could lead to a rewarding career in the electrical trades? This position could be the right move for you! Tacoma Power is looking to hire Electrical Pre-Apprentices into the July 2024 to July 2025 program. As an Electrical Pre-Apprentice, you will participate in an intensive on-the-job electrical training program for up to 12 months. The goal of this program is to create an additional pathway to broaden and diversify the pool of qualified candidates, as well as provide individuals with essential skills and abilities, to successfully compete for the Tacoma Power Apprenticeship programs. Electrical Pre-Apprentices will participate in a paid 12 month training program that will include elements such as basic electricity, math, algebra, physical fitness training, climbing, safety training and on-the-job training including experience with various electrical crews. The Electrical Pre-Apprentice will gain experience and learn material such as: Classroom training including basic electricity, math, algebra, AC/DC theory, and various other topics relevant to the trades To work safely, effectively and cooperatively in a crew environment with coworkers and the public To climb structures safely including ladders, towers and poles and to work effectively at heights To work safely and effectively in enclosed spaces About electrical utility equipment and services The safe and proper use and maintenance of electrical tools and equipment Applying safety principles related to daily work tasks Work under the direction and assist journey-level employees in the working or crew environment. Develop physical ability strength, stamina, and techniques to be able to perform strenuous and physically demanding tasks. Prepare for physical ability tests, utilizing onsite fitness center.
