Description The principle function of this position is to provide administrative support and perform technical duties for the Criminal Investigations Division of the Sheriff's Office. THE DIVISION The Coroner Division is an investigative unit responsible for carrying out the statutory duties of the Coroner. Those duties include investigation into the circumstances surrounding all deaths falling within the Sheriff-Coroner's jurisdiction for the purpose of determining the identity of the deceased, the medical cause of death, the manner of death, and the date and time of death. Medico-legal death investigations are conducted countywide on all homicides, suicides, accidents, suspicious and unexplained deaths. The CHS Mental Health Program consists of services to Adults and Older Adult populations who are justice involved. The position provides professional counseling and treatment services for these populations exhibiting a wide variety of mental health, drug abuse and/or alcohol related disorders in an institutional setting. The JCRP provides services within CHS, providing discharge planning and linkage services to Adults and Older Adult populations who are justice involved. THE DEPARTMENT The Orange County Sheriff-Coroner Department is a large, multi-faceted law enforcement agency served by approximately 3,800 sworn and professional staff members and over 800 reserve personnel. Click here for OCSD website THE POSITION Sheriff's Community Services Officers (CSO) are uniformed personnel that perform various routine law enforcement-related tasks that do not require the authority of a peace officer. A CSO may be required to work either inside a substation or outside in the field. Front desk duties include providing members of the public with information, assisting department personnel with information and equipment requests, registration of sex and arson offenders, and other duties as required.
