This position, under the supervision of the Conservation Camp Supervisor, supervises a fire and fuels crew module of multiple firefighters that participate in all functional areas of wildland fire and resource management. This includes wildfire prevention, suppression and rehabilitation, fuels reduction treatments, natural resource restoration, and public education. The Fire Captain works with staff to ensure agency and national training qualifications and currency are met. Incumbent will exercise leadership through proven techniques. This position evaluates situations and requests necessary resources; inspects, tests, and ensures proper operation of all assigned equipment; and maintains records and prepares reports. The Fire Captain works closely with state, federal, and local cooperators, as well as landowners to achieve the mission.
