During your internship you will work with Library staff to develop social-emotional and career development skills. Interns are introduced to a variety of jobs within the library including: administrative functions, marketing, early literacy programming for youth, outreach initiatives and the lunch at the library program. Each intern will be paired with library staff to job shadow and contribute to projects in various parts of the library. This student internship provides teens with an opportunity to develop workforce readiness skills, learn how to apply for County jobs and navigate the hiring process which will benefit them with future jobs. Setting up and breaking down the free Lunch at the Library program. Assisting staff and patrons with summer learning arts and crafts and STEAM activities; tracking patron attendance for program statistics. Support the Youth Services staff with keeping the Youth areas accessible and engaging through tidying up and shelving books; other related library tasks. Assists patrons by providing information about library programs. Assist with programming for children and teens, including setting up, managing attendance, and cleaning up. Learn and explain library rules and procedures. Knowledge and Skills Required Student interns will be expected to communicate scheduling needs clearly. Share feedback and ideas, and feel comfortable speaking with the public in a friendly and professional manner, especially with children and peer teens. Ideal candidates should be enthusiastic about the Library and working collaboratively in a team setting. Bilingual (Spanish/English) communication skills are highly desirable.
