Job Description and Duties SKILLED LABORER (PERMANENT INTERMITTENT) - DISTRICT FACILITIES MANAGEMENT / STATEWIDE TRAIL CREWS / McCLELLAN The reporting location for this position is 4940 Lang Ave, McClellan, CA. This position will work under the supervision of Park Maintenance Chief II. This Skilled Laborer will do skilled and unskilled maintenance; performs various housekeeping, grounds keeping and minor maintenance tasks; answers routine questions from the public as necessary; completes miscellaneous reports; leads and trains less experienced maintenance personnel in maintenance and construction activities. May lead a crew of seasonal employees, CCC and ACE crews performing maintenance and construction activities. This position will frequently work from remote locations to efficiently complete task assignments. This position requires to work nights, weekends and odd hours and overtime in accomplishment of assigned tasks. This position will also spike camp at work sites outside throughout the State. WORKING CONDITIONS The position requires extensive, near-continuous physical exertion such as repeated lifting of very heavy objects (more than 80 pounds), deep bending, climbing steps and/or assuming awkward positions. Job Summary Under the direct supervision of Associate Director for Facilities Operations, the Laborer primarily performs general unskilled manual labor, which includes a variety of general repair work and preventive maintenance that does not require journey-level skills, assisting with moving/relocation scheduled work requests, uses powered or non-powered cleaning and materials handling equipment and delivery trucks. The Public Works Summer Employment Program positions are distinguished from regular Kitsap County classified positions by the temporary work assignment and training provided to the participants. The training provided for up to four summers allows participants to progress from entry level to more skilled duties and responsibilities, depending upon assignment, years of participation and training progress. Work is performed under immediate supervision and the participants are expected to learn tasks and to carry out assignments as directed.
