About the Position Working under the supervision of the Director of Counseling, the Associate Counselor in Housing provides intake assessment, crisis intervention, and short-term individual, group, and couples counseling to University Housing residents who are currently enrolled in classes. The Counselor works collaboratively with the Student Health and Counseling team, the University Housing and Residential Life team, and campus and community partners in a multidisciplinary approach to help students achieve and maintain optimum wellness. The counselor designs and implements outreach programs and interventions and serves as a liaison to University Housing and Residential Life. The counselor contributes to the overall training of campus staff through workshops and mentorship. This is a temporary, part-time (0.80 time-base) position for one year, with the possibility of reappointment. Anticipated start date is Fall 2023 (August 21, 2023). The Associate Counselor in Housing may potentially transition to a licensed Counselor in Housing position at a higher salary, if an incumbent with positive evaluations successfully achieves licensure. Responsibilities Associate Counselors provide clinical services including intake assessment, crisis intervention, short-term individual, group, and couples therapy, and some case management. The Counselor in Housing also provides outreach programs about mental health, training and consultation for University Housing staff, and debriefing and assistance during University crises as needed. Experience working in higher education, particularly in Residential Life, strongly preferred. Experience facilitating both psychoeducational and interpersonal process groups.
