HIRING CONTACT: Chris True, (940) 902-7440 PHYSICAL WORK ADDRESS: Cooper Lake State Park - South Sulphur Unit, 1690 FM 3505, Sulphur Springs, TX 75482 GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Under the direction of the Region 6 Director, this position performs advanced (senior-level) park/historic site management work including the preservation, protection, administration, operation, and maintenance of the Cooper Lake State Park Complex to include the South Sulphur Unit, Doctor's Creek Unit, the satellite park units and leased concessions. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: visitor services, cultural and natural resource protection and stewardship; financial management including budget planning, preparation and monitoring and revenue management; managing leased concession contracts; human resources management; security and safety programs; maintenance and repair of facilities, grounds and equipment; customer service; public relations, marketing and promotion; interpretive and educational program management; coordinating special events, engaging in community outreach, volunteer development and coordination of partnerships. Works under minimal supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs additional duties as assigned. Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree. Experience: Five years experience in natural/cultural resource management, interpretation or education, general maintenance, public safety, promotions, public relations, marketing, financial management, or budgeting and business development. Three years experience as a park manager, supervisor, or team leader. NOTE: Experience may have occurred concurrently. Licensure: Must possess or be able to obtain, within 30 days of employment, a valid Class C Texas drivers license. NOTE: Retention of position is contingent upon maintaining license. ACCEPTABLE SUBSTITUTIONS Education: TPWD employees hired prior to January 1, 1998 may substitute one year of TPWD experience in park management, supervision, or operations for thirty semester hours of the required education, with a maximum substitution of sixty semester hours. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Park Administration, Recreation and Parks, Wildlife/Fisheries Science, Natural and/or Cultural Resource Management, Forestry, Biology, Anthropology, Archeology or History.
