COORDINATOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENT SERVICES

Salary Range: $4691 - $6683/Monthly

Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; temporary appointment expires on or before one year from date of hire; may be extended, may become permanent; exempt classification.

Essential Functions: Under the direction of the Director, International Programs and Global Engagement (IPGE), the Coordinator of lnternational Student Services is responsible for coordinating all international student services, and is the lead Designated Student Official (DSO). The incumbent serves as the lead advisor for international students and provides guidance and support for the other International Student Advisors in the IPGE office, including trainings and policy updates from government agencies and programs (e.g., U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS)/Student Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP), U.S. Department of State (DOS), and Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS). Additionally, the incumbent is responsible for coordinating the following activities and tasks: student orientation sessions for all incoming international students; OPT workshops, requests, and updates; SEVIS registration, alert list, and batch between Terra Dotta and SEVIS; and advising services for international students, including reinstatement, leaves of absence, changes of status, employment authorizations, and terminations. The incumbent will also serve as the primary liaison to other campus academic and non-academic advisors and will provide regular updates to those groups on the status of international students. Working closely with the Director, the incumbent will assist in developing procedures and business processes that are student centered and connects immigration student advising policy and procedures with university academic advisement policy and procedures.

Required Qualifications & Experience: Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university in a related field, including or supplemented by upper -division or graduate course work in counseling techniques, interviewing, and conflict resolution where such are job-related. Three years of full-time progressively responsible professional international student advising work experience. Experience as a DSO and thorough knowledge of complex and changing regulations pertaining to international students and scholars. A master's degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a directly related field may be substituted for one year of experience. Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident as required for certification as DSO and ARO. Demonstrated interest and ability to work in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who may apply for the position.

Desired Qualifications: Master's degree in Counseling, Advising, Psychology, or a directly related field. Five years of international student advising experience. Experience working with the PeopleSoft system and Terra Dotta. Proficiency in multiple languages.
