Job Description and Duties The Employment and Administrative Mandate (EAM) Section of the California Department of Justice defends over 100 state agencies in lawsuits involving the Fair Employment and Housing Act, Title VII, Americans with Disabilities Act, Family and Medical Leave Act, California Family Rights Act, and the whistleblower protection act, among others. EAM is looking for attorneys with 0-5 years of experience to develop and hone their litigation and trial skills. EAM deputy duties include: Handling all aspects of complex civil employment cases, including drafting and arguing motions, interviewing witnesses, conducting depositions and other discovery, preparing and arguing summary judgment motions, conducting expert discovery, and preparing for trial. First- and second-chairing jury and bench trials. Handling contested administrative evidentiary hearings before the State Personnel Board. Defending agency administrative actions against petitions for writ of mandamus. Drafting appellate briefs and arguing before the Courts of Appeal and Ninth Circuit. Obtaining work safety and gun violence restraining orders. Timely and professionally communicating with clients, including providing detailed case analyses and recommendations. Providing training, guidance, and advice to state agencies on a variety of employment and personnel matters. Professionally communicating with judges, court staff, juries, and witnesses. Working cooperatively, professionally, and effectively with colleagues, opposing counsel, and clients. DESCRIPTION THE AGENCY Treasurer-Tax Collector Department's mission is to provide County departments and all other depositing agencies with secured and convenient countywide central banking facility and countywide central banking facility and countywide treasurer administration services, including the investment of monies on deposit with Treasurer in the Treasurer's Investment Pool, provide real estate and personal property tax billing and collecting services, provide business licensing services in the unincorporated areas of the County, and provide in-house administration of the County's deferred compensation plan programs for eligible employees. THE POSITION Under general direction, to perform a wide variety of duties to facilitate collection on current and delinquent accounts; to effect collection through personal and telephone contact, correspondence and/or legal action; to prepare accounts for legal enforcement and attend court proceedings; to maintain collection records and documents; and to do related work as required. Classes include in this series are: DISTINGUISHING FEATURES These positions are located in the Central Collections Division of the Office of the Auditor-Controller; and in the Treasurer-Tax Collector's Department. Collection Enforcement Deputy II positions are flexibly staffed from Collection Enforcement Deputy I, based on meeting defined job performance standards. Collection Enforcement Deputy I's are distinguished from Collection Enforcement II's in that the latter are required to perform at higher job productivity levels for revenues collected, numbers of paying accounts, numbers of court actions, and the percentage of accounts over 120 days delinquent. Both classes are distinguished from the next higher class series of Collection Supervisor, in that positions in the latter classes act as working-level supervisors. DEFINITION OF LEVEL Positions at this level perform initial research on debtor accounts and related inside collections of such accounts. Incumbents verify information relating to the whereabouts, employment, earning, assets, liabilities and ability to pay of persons owing monies to the County. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Either I The equivalent of one year's experience as a Specialist Clerk or in an equivalent or high class in the Alameda County classified service (non-classified includes District Attorney's Office, Hospital Authority, and the Consolidated Courts), involving collection assignments. About the Position:
Reporting to the Town Manager, the Town Clerk serves as a key member of the Town Manager’s team. The experience and credentialing of the successful candidate are equally focused on both technical and inter-personal skills. The selected candidate will be a key part of Town Council working relationships.
The Town Clerk must be able to lead multiple complex and time-critical projects and initiatives through creative problem-solving and solutions-based outcomes. Responsibilities will include leading and/or supporting projects through various stages while ensuring collaboration across departments and community stakeholders to achieve positive results that are aligned with strategic priorities. This will also require working collaboratively with Town staff, Council Members, residents, businesses, other community partners and stakeholders, and utilizing creative thinking, problem-solving, organization and attention to details, and leadership to navigate and, whenever possible, proactively address challenges that arise.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record in community engagement and experience with working closely with Town Council and Town management to effectively manage Council agendas, Town records, public records requests, and other administrative, leadership, and support responsibilities and opportunities. About the Position:
Reporting to the Town Manager, the Town Clerk serves as a key member of the Town Manager’s team. The experience and credentialing of the successful candidate are equally focused on both technical and inter-personal skills. The selected candidate will be a key part of Town Council working relationships.
The Town Clerk must be able to lead multiple complex and time-critical projects and initiatives through creative problem-solving and solutions-based outcomes. Responsibilities will include leading and/or supporting projects through various stages while ensuring collaboration across departments and community stakeholders to achieve positive results that are aligned with strategic priorities. This will also require working collaboratively with Town staff, Council Members, residents, businesses, other community partners and stakeholders, and utilizing creative thinking, problem-solving, organization and attention to details, and leadership to navigate and, whenever possible, proactively address challenges that arise.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record in community engagement and experience with working closely with Town Council and Town management to effectively manage Council agendas, Town records, public records requests, and other administrative, leadership, and support responsibilities and opportunities. Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree and certification as a North Carolina Municipal Clerk is strongly preferred.
Salary and Benefits : The hiring range for the position is $72,000 - $80,000 depending on qualifications.
