Advanced Practice Provider-Breast Oncology Lubbock 36839BR Position Description Employees in this position are responsible for augmenting a supervising physician's data gathering abilities to reach decisions and institute patient care plans. Provides health care services to patients under direction and responsibility of a Physician. Major/Essential Functions Timely response to all calls for patient admissions and consults to obtain health history and performs physical examinations. Orders necessary studies such as labs and radiological procedures as appropriate. Develops care plans in coordination with attending surgeon based on information gathered during interview and exam. Communicates effectively via progress notes and in person to ancillary staff, other physicians regarding patient plans and goals of care. Communicates timely and effectively to attending surgeon regarding change in status of patients. Works with medical students and residents, nursing and allied health personnel and students as part of the acute care surgery team. Participates in teaching efforts of the department of surgery, such as seminars, conferences and special programs. Coordinates discharge disposition - appropriate follow-ups, next site of care, discharge needs. Documentation of information regarding patient status, treatment, and care. Provide follow up clinical care as part of the TTUHSC Breast Oncology team. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Graduation from a Physician Assistant's training program approved by the Council on Allied Health Education Accreditation of the American Medical Association. Current Physician Assistant license in the State of Texas or ability to transfer license to Texas. Certification as a Physician Assistant as evidenced by passing the examinations given by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants. OR Graduation from an accredited school of nursing as a nurse practitioner from an approved certification program recognized by Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners. Current R.N. license as approved by the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners or ability to transfer license to Texas. Certification as a Nurse Practitioner from an approved certification program as recognized by Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners or ability to transfer certification to Texas.
