The Yuba County of Yuba is currently recruiting for three Intervention Counselor I/II positions within the Probation Department. These positions will be assigned either to the Adult, Juvenile or Victim Services division of the Probation Department. Incumbent to this position will perform initial assessment, assist in developing counseling/treatment plans; provide counseling services and group facilitation to victims, witnesses of crimes, at-risk juveniles and adult/juvenile offenders; provide a variety of prevention, intervention and treatment services through education and treatment resources; make referrals to agencies for at-risk individuals and their families and perform related work as assigned. Positions in this classification are flexibly staffed, and are normally filled by advancement from the I level if incumbents have met the qualifications and have demonstrated the ability to perform the responsibilities required at the higher performance level.
Probation manages a variety of specialized adult and youth program elements. The adult programs include Drug Court, a pre-trial unit, and a wide array of rehabilitative programming at the Together Everyone Achieves More (TEAM) Center. The youth program elements include a variety of programs, Probation and School Success Program, Juvenile Offender Work Program, Juvenile Traffic Court, Truancy Program, and services to detained youth within the Juvenile Institutions. Victim Services provides programs that support and assist victims of crimes. Victim Services provides victim advocacy, court support, legal system navigation, restitution assistance and emotional support referrals while victims and/or their families attempt to heal from the trauma of experiencing a crime. Victim Services deals with crimes of all types, including homicides, sexual assault and rape, domestic violence, child abuse, robbery, and property crimes to list a few. Victim Services is the main hub for Yuba County's Multi-Disciplinary Interview Team providing forensic interviews to children who have experienced sexual and physical abuse. Victim Services collaborates with many community based organizations and participates in community events to ensure an array of services are available to victims and their families.
