Salary Range: $3,282 - $5,449/Monthly

Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; non-exempt classification.

Essential Functions: Under the direction of the Student Accounts Lead, the incumbent performs accounting duties in the cashiering operation of One-Stop Financial Services (OSFS). The incumbent is responsible for providing support in the service areas related to student accounts, including accurately verifying and posting charges and payments for the campus community. The incumbent will serve as the liaison between OSFS and Housing and Residence Life (HRL); assist HRL staff with all requests; share essential HRL information and updates with all OSFS staff; verify, post, and adjust housing charges as requested by HRL; HOU account clean-up: review hanging credits in student accounts on a weekly basis; apply misapplied payments to balances; forward credit listing to HRL staff for review and refund authorization; Process housing invoices each term in accordance with HRL billing timeline; post invoices to students' accounts; process 3rd party sponsor invoices for housing-related fees: work with various campus departments and external agencies regarding sponsorship details; create subsidized sponsor contracts on PeopleSoft; invoice sponsors and process payments in a timely manner; maintain records and follow up on unpaid sponsor invoices; and provide financial reports to HRL staff. The incumbent will prepare daily University deposits for courier pickup; accurately prepare and submit the Report of Collections to the Controller's Office; retain record of scanned report of Collections documents for departmental use; maintain $800.00 petty cash drawer; review, verify, and process petty cash vouchers as received; submit monthly reimbursement of Petty Cash Requisition report to Controller's Office; maintain records of petty cash vouchers; work with various campus departments to obtain lists of eligible fee waiver recipients ; code approved waiver recipients; resolve fee waiver-related discrepancies; provide financial reports to respective departments; use the point-of-sale cashiering system to receive and issue receipts for monies; guard against the receipt of counterfeit monies; run reports and balance transactions accurately; verify daily departmental deposits, backup for processing deposits; process misc. charge posting and group post requests from OSFS staff; post Chemistry broken item fee charges to student accounts each term; correct misapplied payments as requested by students and departmental staff; reconcile reapplied payments each day; provide high-level customer service to the campus community; answer questions regarding students' accounts by investigating and communicating results via e-mail, phone, and in person; exercise a high level of tact and judgment in addressing all members of the campus community; analyze and resolve escalated, complex issues using professional judgment and individual discretion in the interpretation of policies and procedures; assist and provide services to students, faculty, and staff; and act as a liaison between user departments and student organizations within the university.

Required Qualifications & Experience: Equivalent to three years of progressively responsible financial record-keeping experience, which included relevant experience in front or back-office cashiering operations. The incumbent must be competent in desktop software including Microsoft Office Suite. The incumbent must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, experience handling student issues. The incumbent must have the ability to apply accounting procedures and practices to the analysis of complex accounting problems; analyze and interpret accounting data; prepare clear, accurate financial statements and reports; utilize problem solving techniques to find solutions to complex accounting problems; understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures; work independently; and make sound decisions and recommendations regarding accounting activities; ability to effectively interpret policies and procedures in written or presentation form; and to exercise a high level of tact and judgment in addressing members of the campus community. The incumbent must have a demonstrated interest and/or ability to work in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the California State University.
