Manages and restores the natural and cultural resources significant to the park. Responsible for sustaining and supporting wildlife and plant communities. Plans and carries out various assignments which includes herbicide application to the park's prairie and wetland areas; shredding prairies, manual removal of trees, and controlling invasive species. Conducts prescribed burns and is responsible for sensitive site management and feral animal control. Responsible for oversite of parks trail systems. Responsible for all Project Review Requests to ensure proper management of the cultural and natural resources. Develops and maintains a comprehensive Natural and Cultural Resource Management Plans for the complex. Assists with interpretative programming and large school groups, park promotion, marketing, volunteer recruitment, preparation of assigned reports, trains staff and volunteers, maintains adjacent landowner relationships and coordinates academia research permits. Performs routine park maintenance, issues permits, revenue collection, registers visitors and provides information to park guests and visitors. Promotes conservation and stewardship of natural and cultural resources. Responsible for interpreting the park's historical significance and biodiversity to a variety of audiences. Researches, plans, and conducts interpretive programs, tours, hikes, special events, and promotes outreach programs with schools, civic groups, scouts, and other organizations. Assists with the park's public outreach effort. Assists with the park's promotional efforts through social media and other outlets. Assists with managing the park's volunteer program, including both day volunteers and park hosts. Promotes conservation and stewardship of natural and cultural resources. Responsible for interpreting the park's historical significance and biodiversity to a variety of audiences. Researches, plans, and conducts interpretive programs, tours, hikes, special events, and promotes outreach programs with schools, civic groups, scouts, and other organizations. Assists with the park's public outreach effort. Assists with the park's promotional efforts through social media and other outlets. Assists with managing the park's volunteer program, including both day volunteers and park hosts. Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations and procedures. Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree. Experience: No experience required. ACCEPTABLE SUBSTITUTIONS Education: One year of experience in interpretation or conducting educational programs may substitute for 30 hours of the required education, with a maximum substitution of 120 semester hours. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Park Administration, Recreation and Parks, Wildlife/Fisheries Science, Natural and/or Cultural Resource Conservation, Range Management, Forestry, Biology, Geology, Anthropology/Archeology, History, or closely related field. Experience: Experience in customer service; Experience in park operations; Experience in interpretation or conducting educational programs. Licensure: Currently a Certified Interpretive Guide, Certified Interpretive Host, or possession of a similar certification from the National Association for Interpretation (NAI).
