Job Description and Duties ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENTIST (PERMANENT INTERMITTENT) - NATURAL RESOURCES DIVISION / COASTAL PROGRAMS / HEADQUARTERS The reporting location for this position is Headquarters located at 715 P Street in Sacramento, CA. This position will work under the direction of the Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisory). Join the Natural Resources Division of California State Parks in Sacramento to join the Coastal Programs team. This position is an exciting opportunity to be a part of coastal management and adaptation planning for almost a quarter of the State's coastline. Working with the Coastal Programs team, the incumbent will provide support to sea level rise adaptation projects as well as implementation of the State Parks Sea Level Rise Adaptation Strategy; the incumbent will provide an equal amount of support for coastal ecosystem protection and restoration. GIS mapping skills are essential for this position, and training is available. Experience in project management, implementation of coastal ecosystem restoration, permitting and regulatory context, and policy analysis are highly desirable. Applicants should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, a positive attitude, be solution oriented and flexible, and able to take initiative and work independently. They should be able to manage several high priority projects simultaneously and able to travel to State Park locations across the state. Additional information about this position is in the Duty Statement. The Natural Resources Division works in a hybrid mode and staff may work remotely depending on work needs. Statewide travel may involve up to 30% of the incumbent's time. Training and Development Assignments may be considered. This position may work up to 1500 hours per year/in a 12 consecutive month period. State housing is not available.
