Job Description and Duties LIFEGUARD II (SEASONAL) - NORTHERN BUTTES DISTRICT / CASCADE SECTOR / MCARTHUR-BURNEY FALLS MEMORIAL STATE PARK Priority consideration will be given to any person receiving State public assistance under the CalWORKs program. Applicants who receive State public assistance need to identify their status as a CalWORKs recipient in the comments area on the application. Reliable transportation is essential due to the remote work location. This is a uniformed position, and the successful candidates will be required to purchase and wear a State Parks uniform. This position is seasonal with an approximate start date of May 1, 2024, and extending through late 2024. The LG II acts as a lead-person for the seasonal lifeguard series to provide oversight of aquatics programs and facilities located in the area; assists in training; planning work schedules and assignments; dispatching and leading a group of seasonal lifeguards engaged in lifesaving activities. A Lifeguard II (Seasonal) must have the ability to follow directions; remain alert; analyze situations accurately; think and act quickly and take command in emergencies; establish and maintain good working relations; and communicate effectively. The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment. This position requires a valid Class C driver’s license. Job Description and Duties SENIOR ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENTIST (SUPERVISORY) - CHANNEL COAST DISTRICT/SAN BUENAVENTURA STATE BEACH The reporting location is the Channel Coast District in San Buenaventura State Beach, 911 San Pedro Street, Ventura, CA 93001. This position works under the direction of District Superintendent II. The position supervises the natural resource teams that are responsible for a wide variety of functions in natural resource management and environmental compliance. Duties include supervision of the natural resource maintenance, fire management, tree safety, and pest management programs. The position is responsible for environmental compliance under the California Environmental Quality Act, grant applications and administration, management of natural resource stewardship projects, training of district staff on environmental issues, interagency communications on environmental issues and integration of the Natural Resource core program with other core programs of the district. This model includes high expectations, mastery learning, and cohorts of individuals currently employed in the educational setting.
