Job Description and Duties SENIOR PARK & RECREATION SPECIALIST - STRATEGIC PLANNING & RECREATION SERVICES DIVISION / HEADQUARTERS SECTION / INNOVATIONS UNIT The reporting location for this position is Headquarters located at 715 P Street in Sacramento, CA. This position will work under the direction of the Environmental Program Manager I (Managerial) in the Innovations Unit. The Coastal Accommodations Specialist manages and develops the low-cost coastal accommodations program and identifies other critical facility needs in California state park units. The incumbent prepares and manages the scope, schedule and budget of the program and each unit's feasibility study; facilitates the site selection, resources inventory and environmental analysis; serves as team lead and subject matter expert on planning and implementation processes; leads and organizes public outreach; and prepares reports and other products. Specifically, the incumbent prepares and manages consultant contracts, researches recreation data and environmental issues, presents information at public planning meetings and executive briefings, and coordinates with California State Parks’ district offices, various partners and consultants to select sites for new facilities. The incumbent prepares written plans, correspondence, newsletters, webpages, schedules, maps and graphic illustrations. Projects include the low-cost accommodations program as well as the department's Transformation Initiative to provide alternative camping accommodation.
