We are currently seeking experienced candidates for the position of Lead Technology Specialist. The CSU Chancellor's Office, located on the waterfront adjacent to the Aquarium of the Pacific in downtown Long Beach, is the headquarters for the nation's largest and most diverse system of higher education. Salary

The anticipated salary hiring range is up to $7,084 per month, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The salary range for this classification is $4,678 to $11,547 per month.

Position Information

The California State University, Office of the Chancellor, is seeking a Lead Technology Specialist to be responsible for coordinating all aspects of administrative and academic technology for the CalStateTEACH program: including the public and course websites, the learning management system and work folio, supervision software, the data warehouse, data migration, accreditation websites, and evaluation portfolios. Maintains security of and manages access to confidential program and candidate data. Collaborates with Information Technology Services on issues with Amazon Web Services, Canvas, and CalStateTEACH infrastructure. Maintains candidate data dashboard, prepares reports for program and candidate evaluation. This position will work collaboratively with other Academic and Student Affairs departments at the Chancellor’s Office to accomplish key systemwide Academic and Student Affairs initiatives such as the Graduation Initiative 2025, and to ensure consistent communication/messaging with campuses and other external constituent groups. This position is located at the Chancellor’s office in downtown Long Beach.

Responsibilities

Under the general direction of the Systemwide Director, the Lead Technology Specialist will perform duties as outlined below:

Reporting

-Reports and dashboard modernization through cloud-based BI Platforms (esp. AWS and QuickSight).

-Collect and secure confidential ERSA and ERSS student/applicant data; create reports for Title II, IAP and CCTC Biennial reports; and continue development of candidate data dashboard.

-Reporting user audits to campus stakeholders and systemwide security leads.

Training and Collaboration

-Weekly in-person meetings with Systemwide Director, Instructional/Multimedia Developer, Technology Support Specialist and one representative from the Curriculum Committee.

-Collaborates with Information Technology Services and Technology Support Specialist on integrating and improving educational technology programs for Canvas to the CalStateTEACH student and faculty portal.

-Collaborate on sensitive projects such as systemwide projects with the Systemwide Director including assisting with Graduation Initiative 2025 and developing technology for the Educator Leadership Programs Department in support of the Department’s data management needs.

-Participating in the development and delivery of training to developers and end-users.

-Mentoring other team members on creating user-intuitive, well-thought-out, attractive reporting solutions using the latest tools.

Technology Coordination

-Coordinating and implementing solutions for quality assurance and unit testing.

-Manage central online application which includes upkeep and modification of the CalState APPLY application; work with staff at lead campuses and Academic and Student Affairs Business Systems to facilitate smooth data transfer from CalState APPLY into different SIS databases.

-Creating standard documentation and providing metadata for end users and IT staff.

-Quality assurance/validation of applications, dashboards, and reports.

-Building and maintaining organized report library/catalogs using GIT repositories.

-Performing quarterly user audits, updating, and maintaining our roster of active Applications users.

Other Duties

-Other duties as assigned, including support to other units and departments and assisting with specific projects.

Qualifications

This position requires:

-Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or related field from an accredited four-year university or college and a minimum of 3-5 years' experience of related work; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Master's degree preferred.

-Thorough knowledge of HTML and browser systems.

-Internet networking troubleshooting skills (routers, firewalls, email protocol, TCP/IP).

-Experience producing websites and advanced data-based-backed web applications.

-Extensive programming skills with PHP, Oracle, MySQL.

-Knowledge of Unix, NT and iOS operating systems.

-Understanding of Linux and Microsoft server administration.

-Experience developing web forms and data gathering tools.

-Knowledge of Apple and Microsoft operating systems.

-Able to work independently.

-Experience with digital accessibility and disability inclusion.

-Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

-Able to set workload priorities and take initiative for projects.

-Strong oral and written communication skills.

-Flexibility.

-Extensive technical skills and experience with Cloud technologies such as Amazon Web Services (AWS).

-Experience with web-based learning management systems and website security.

-Experience with leading a team of technology specialists.

-Experience in coordinating and delegating assignments.
