Center for Effective Teaching and Learning (CETL)

Salary Range : $4,912- $12,124/Monthly

Work Schedule : Full-Time, Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; temporary position, ends on or before one year from the date of hire; may be extended; may become permanent; exempt classification.

Essential Functions : Cal State LA's nationally recognized Center for Effective Teaching and Learning (CETL) provides faculty development programming on teaching best practices with and without the use of academic technology. One of CETL's objectives is to support faculty to effectively leverage active learning, academic technology, and/or teaching best practices to enhance teaching and learning and to ultimately increase student success. Reporting to the Director of Academic Technology and under the leadership of the Executive Director of CETL, the incumbent works in a team environment, facilitating the use of academic technology tools, including the learning management system (LMS), to support effective teaching and learning. The incumbent may provide technology support in person and via email, phone, and online. The incumbent will assist with the day-to-day operations of CETL’s virtual support service as well as develop documentation, tutorials and other resources for faculty, including regular CETL website updates. The incumbent may also consult with faculty on addressing accessibility of course materials and implementing teaching best practices. Incumbent is also directly responsible for the maintenance and support of all CETL department hardware, software, and equipment ensuring their effective use.

Required Qualifications & Experience : Incumbent must possess: bachelor’s degree in instructional design, instructional technology, computer science, information systems, educational technology, communications, or related fields, or similar certified coursework in applicable fields of study; two years of related job experience; proficiency using learning management systems and other academic technology tools (e.g., Canvas, Panopto, Zoom, Respondus Test Bank, Turnitin); strong proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, Outlook, Teams and other web conferencing tools; and excellent organizational and time management skills. Incumbent must have the ability to: analyze and troubleshoot hardware and software; develop, edit, and maintain websites, including meeting applicable web accessibility requirements; work independently with minimal supervision; and work in a responsive team environment using excellent written and oral communication skills. Incumbent must demonstrate an interest or ability in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Desired Qualifications : Experience supporting users with instructional technologies and/or LMS; experience supporting a LMS in a higher education setting. Experience training and/or supporting users with technology, software, or hardware; demonstrated ability to work and communicate with faculty and staff to effectively identify and efficiently meet their technology needs; experience supporting users with video editing tools, lecture capture systems, and/or learning glass; experience in a customer-facing role or working in a customer service-oriented position; experience editing or maintaining websites; general understanding of WCAG standards, use of accessibility tools (e.g., Ally), and/or experience with file remediation to help ensure the accessibility of digital course materials.
