Job Description

Job Summary

Under general supervision of the Director of the School of Education, this position coordinates administrative support functions for SOE staff and faculty, as well as faculty/staff from various departments and colleges across campus related to educator preparation. This position will screen Credential Office and SOE calls, transmit messages from phone inquiries, and direct visitors from foot traffic. The position will also provide administrative support to the SOE regarding school, department, and university-level forms, policies and procedures as well as assist with planning, preparing and hosting SOE events.

Department Summary

The School of Education (SOE) offers a variety of post-baccalaureate teaching credentials, an advanced credential, and four master’s degrees. As an interdisciplinary unit, the SOE delivers its programs in partnership with eight departments across three colleges, and nearly 50 school districts and county offices of education in our expanded service area. The SOE also works closely with the other CSM units focused on Teacher Education: Liberal Studies and the Center for Engineering, Science and Mathematics Education. Although a relatively small school it is complex in terms of budgeting, personnel, and operations.

Key Qualifications
  • Ability to analyze operational and procedural problems from multiple perspectives, to develop, recommend, and anticipate the impact of solutions on other areas of the SOE and its partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and adapt quickly to new technology, software programs, evolving university processes, and procedures.
  • Ability to initiate, establish, and foster communication and teamwork by maintaining a positive, cooperative, productive work atmosphere in and outside the University with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within a diverse population and with those from various cultural backgrounds.
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency with a variety of computer applications including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, internet resources as well as online calendaring and email. Ability to operate and troubleshoot office equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly acquire detailed knowledge of university infrastructure, policy and procedures, in combination with SOE policies and procedures, with the capacity to use judgment and discretion wherever precedents do not exist.

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or its equivalent. Type 45 wpm. Four (4) years of general office support or technical experience. (Training at a vocational school or full-time college education may be substituted for two years of the required experience on the basis of one year of college education for 6 months of experience.)

Salary and Benefits

Anticipated Hiring Range: $42,064 - $51,360 annually

Classification Range: $42,060 - $66,096 annually
