Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Center on Disabilities (COD), Director reports to the Interim Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs, Equity and Inclusion. The incumbent is responsible for the design, management and implementation of internal and external functions and programs of the Center on Disabilities. Has oversight responsibility for the development, budget administration, marketing and design of educational activities, services and programs including the existing CSUN Assistive Technology Conference and training initiatives, including the Assistive Technology Applications Certificate Program. Conducts research on trends in the field in order to expand existing programs and develop opportunities for new programs and scholarly activities. Partners with Academic and Student Affairs departments, community agencies and external stakeholders. Works closely with COD Advisory Council implementing approved recommendations and nurturing partnerships. Builds a community presence and network to increase opportunities for expansion of COD services and programs.

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in education, assistive technology, disability services or related field from an accredited institution required.

• Minimum of five years of progressively responsible managerial and lead experience with responsibility for related large scale programs, trainings, collaborations and supervision of staff.

Knowledge, Specialized Skills, and Abilities:

Demonstrated record of developing and implementing successful large-scale conference programs, specifically to support people with disabilities.

• Demonstrated record of seeking and maintaining effective relationships within the disabilities access field, including with accessibility leaders representing large corporations to small businesses, and seeking and securing sponsorships and collaborative agreements.

• Demonstrated experience recruiting members and managing committees, boards and councils comprised of industry leaders representing a broad scope, including academic institutions, Fortune 500 corporations, researchers, practitioners and end-users.

• Thorough knowledge of disability theory and assistive technology practices.

• Familiarity and experience with computing systems, such as LMS platforms, web conferencing, Microsoft Suite, and accounting tools.

• Knowledge of MLA and publishing practices, review of academic research methods, and skills to evaluate proposals and submissions for presentation and publication.

• Skills in budgeting, resource generation, strategic planning and operations.

• Demonstrated ability to motivate and lead a diverse staff in accomplishing established goals.

• Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.

• Demonstrated ability to develop partnerships and effectively collaborate within a higher education setting to achieve goals and priorities.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Able to make presentations before a variety of audiences.

• Knowledgeable about assessment and evaluation practices. Able to design and utilize appropriate instruments to determine efficacy of services and measure progress in the attainment of goals and outcomes.

• Demonstrated experience in utilizing data/evidence to inform strategic change and make progress towards identified goals.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

This position is employed through The University Corporation (TUC).

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8 am- 5 pm

Full Pay range: $120,000 Per year- $130,000 per year

The anticipated hiring range: $120,000 Per year- $130,000 per year

Time Base: Full-Time
