APPOINTMENTS FROM THE PART-TIME POOL ARE TEMPORARY AND OFTEN MADE JUST PRIOR TO THE START OF THE ACADEMIC TERM. APPLICANTS MUST BE AVAILABLE ON VERY SHORT NOTICE.

The Industrial Technology Area in the Orfalea College of Business at Cal Poly is creating a pool of eligible part-time lecturers and lab instructors for possible teaching assignments during the Summer, Fall, Winter, and/or Spring Quarters of the 2023-24 academic year. Teaching areas: Industrial automation and manufacturing technologies (e.g., CAD/CAM, basic PLC and robot programming, setup/operation of CNC mills and lathes), Industrial power systems, Industrial safety and quality program leadership, Product Design and Development (e.g., SolidWorks, KeyShot, Rhinoceros, prototyping, sketching, rendering), Supply Chain Management and Logistics, Operations Planning and Control, Lean Six Sigma, Commercialization of New Technologies, and Professional Technical Selling. Assignments will be contingent upon budget and enrollments.

Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. As of July 2022, the classification salary ranges for the respective ranks are:

Lecturer A: $4,530-$6,056
Lecturer B: $5,405-$11,994
Lecturer C: $6,190-$13,172
Lecturer D: $7,794-$13,797

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

M.S., MBA, or Ph.D. degree in Technology, Engineering or related discipline. Any exception to this qualification for any reason may only occur with the consent of the area's tenured and probationary faculty.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

Following a conditional offer of employment, a background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate may start work with Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.
