The Job

Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) is recruiting for Education Specialists to provide support for training, competency, and education for the facility. The Education Specialist will ensure complete and accurate documentation and record retention of the training, education and competency programs. This position will participate in determining education needs by planning, developing, implementing and evaluating the training programs. The Education Specialist is responsible for maintaining the hospital training material by coordinating, preparing, compiling and summarizing necessary information for regulatory requirements. In addition, the Educator will participate in performance improvement to determine dependable measurement tools and collection of data which provide evidence of staff competencies. Education Specialists may also develop competencies based on legal and regulatory standards for the needs of the hospital.

ARROWHEAD REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER

Located on a beautiful 70-acre campus in Colton, California (50 miles east of Los Angeles), Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) is a state-of-the-art, public/nonprofit, 456-bed, university affiliated teaching hospital licensed by the State of California Department of Public Health and accredited by The Joint Commission. The hospital houses a regional burn center serving four counties (San Bernardino, Riverside, Mono and Inyo), a comprehensive stroke center, level I trauma center and a freestanding in-patient behavioral health center. Additionally, ARMC operates five community-based, primary care clinics and over 40 specialty care outpatient services. ARMC is the primary teaching hospital for the adjacently located California University of Science and Medicine (CUSM), the Inland Empire's newest medical school.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Background: Applicants selected for these positions must pass a background investigation, drug test, verification of employment history and education.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: Twenty-four (24) semester, thirty-six (36) quarter, units of completed college coursework from an accredited college or university in English, Communications/Journalism, Public/Business Administration, Education, Health Care Administration, Health Science, Biology, Behavioral or Social Science. A list ofcoursework must be submitted with the application if a degree (as above) has not been conferred.

-AND-

EXPERIENCE:
Eighteen (18) months of full-time equivalent experience planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating educational programs based on regulatory agency systems standards in a healthcare setting.

Substitution: One additional year of qualifying experience may substitute for the education requirement.

Desired Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have experience working in a training environment for adult learners. The incumbent will understand how to tailor materials for various learning styles to achieve classroom success.
