The Position (This position is NOT a sworn peace officer position.)

Investigators for the Private Investigators Licensing Board (PILB) perform investigations involving violations of federal and/or State laws
pertaining to Chapter 648 of the Nevada Revised Statutes and Nevada Administrative Code. Investigations may be conducted based
on public or private complaints received by the agency alleging unlicensed activity in the state and/or complaints received in the agency
about a license holder or registered employee of the license holder. Additionally, these positions conduct comprehensive background
checks on applicants applying for licensure and/or registered work cards. These positons conduct compliance audits, both in the office
and out in the field, and work very closely with the Nevada Labor Commission, Federal, State, local law enforcement and other
government licensing bodies. This position also provides testimony during Board meetings.

Under close supervision, applicants will learn to conduct and coordinate investigations to include interviewing witnesses, victims and
suspects, as well as utilizing other law enforcement or State agency sources to obtain necessary information. Applicants must have the
ability to learn to gather and preserve evidence, document findings, utilize case management tools, develop case files and develop final
investigative reports and affidavits in the approved Private Investigators Licensing Board format using concise, logical, grammatically
correct language. Applicants will learn to document case history and follow through with goals and objectives. Applicants must have the
ability to conduct field activities, including compliance audits and surveillance. A heavy workload coupled with daily office and
administrative deadlines make it essential for the applicant to be organized, dependable and adaptable to change. Applicants must
have the ability to conduct complex or difficult investigative assignments that may involve multiple violations or suspects. A basic
understanding of firearms and range experience is preferred.

To Qualify

Education and Experience
1) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in criminal justice, police science, or closely related field; OR graduation
from high school or equivalent education and two years of investigative experience involving standard investigative and enforcement
techniques utilized to enforce local, state and/or federal laws and regulations; OR an equivalent combination of education and
experience.

Special Requirements
1) Persons offered employment in this series must submit to and successfully complete a comprehensive background investigation.
2) A valid State of Nevada driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
