ABOUT THE POSITION

The Clark County Department of Aviation is seeking interested college students to apply for consideration for a paid, part-time internship with the Information Systems division for the following teams:

  • IT Project Management
  • Business Intelligence
  • Service Desk, Administrative Support
  • Infrastructure/Network, IT Facilities, Telecom, Radio Frequency Communications
  • Infrastructure/Server
  • Cybersecurity

This internship provides an excellent opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students to obtain hands-on experience and on-the-job training through paid internships related to their academic field of study.

The schedule is flexible, and hours vary. Typically, interns work 16-20 hours per week. Part-time employment will not lead to permanent employment. Part-time employees do not receive benefits.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience:

Must be currently enrolled as a full-time Junior or Senior undergraduate, or graduate student in an accredited degree program in one of the following areas: Management Information Systems, Project Management, Computer Science, Data Science, Computer Program Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering with related Information and Computer Technology coursework, Cybersecurity, or a related field.

Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.

Background Check: Employment with the Department of Aviation is contingent upon an education/experience background investigation, a fingerprint-based criminal history record check processed by the FBI, and upon the ability to be granted a security badge as mandated by the Transportation Security Administration. Note: all prospective hires must present two original government issued ID's, displaying identical names, upon acceptance of job offer. Examples of acceptable ID's include a Passport, Driver's License or DMV issued ID, birth certificate, Social Security card, Voter Registration card, school issued ID with picture, etc.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Mobility to work in a typical office setting and use standard office equipment, stamina to remain seated and maintain concentration for an extended period of time and to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Interns will work within the Information Systems division and work on a variety of tasks related to that specific team.

Project Management Team: Working with our IT Project Management Team to facilitate projects, work with stakeholders, develop project plans, coordinate and schedule activities.

Business Intelligence Team: Working with our Business Intelligence Team on the data structure, data pipeline, stakeholder requirements gathering, and data visualizations.

Service Desk, Administrative Support: Working with the team to support our administrative systems, desktop hardware, printers, communication, and our IT Service Management practices.

Infrastructure/Network, IT Facilities, Telecom, Radio Frequency Communications: Working with the infrastructure team on enterprise network, fiber, cable plant for multiple locations, IT facilities (data/server rooms), telecommunications support and management, and radio frequency communications for the airport.

Infrastructure/Server Team: Working with server administrators, systems programmers and leadership to operationally support critical systems in the airport environment to include maintenance, patching, system lifecycle, and disaster recovery.

Cybersecurity Team: Working with the airport cybersecurity team to identify risk, mitigate risk, develop/review cybersecurity policies, carry-out best practices, and provide support to operations and various other airport groups.
