NATURE OF WORK:Performs specialized field and office work in fire prevention with responsibility for enforcement of fire safety codes, laws, and ordinances and includes inspection of commercial buildings to insure compliance. Initiative and judgment must be exercised to recognize fire hazards and acquire code compliance. Field work exposes employee to varying weather conditions, chemicals, noxious fumes, insects, heights and confined areas. Work is performed under general supervision, according to established guidelines, and is reviewed through daily conferences.

Minimum Requirements
High School Graduate or equivalent with six (6) months to one (l) year experience in fire inspection, fire prevention or related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must possess and maintain State of Florida Fire Safety Inspector Certification from the Division of State Fire Marshal and a valid Florida driver's license. Position requires background check which includes a polygraph.
VALID DRIVER LICENSE FROM ANY STATE MUST BE PRESENTED AT TIME OF INTERVIEW. FLORIDA DRIVER LICENSE MUST BE PRESENTED WITHIN 30 DAYS OF EMPLOYMENT.

City of Orlando Benefits If this posting indicates a degree is required, the following experience will apply in lieu of any degree as follows:
- Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
- Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
- Six (6) years of direct experience for a master's degree; or
- Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree
