    Part-Time (Temporary/Casual) Position

    College Station, TX

    The Student Technician I is responsible for basic maintenance, preventative maintenance, inspection, update, testing, and repair of emergency response training equipment and Task Force Cache database. Must wear personal protective equipment and uniform as required. Assists full-time employees as needed in support of task force operations.

    This position reports to the Logistics Manager.

    Required Qualifications:
    • High School Diploma or GED and current enrollment in an undergraduate degree-granting program at an accredited college or university.


    Required Licenses/Certifications:
    • Must have a valid motor vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.


    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Warehouse or maintenance experience.
    • Familiar with databases and scanning.


    Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to work outdoors exposed to various weather conditions year-round, potential allergens, and elevated noise levels.
    • Ability to work in tight spaces.
    • Physical conditioning consistent with movement/lifting of light, moderate, and/or heavy containers and equipment using assisted-lift equipment, standing, walking, sitting, climbing, bending/stooping, kneeling/squatting, reaching, talking, hearing, lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling.
    • Ability to communicate orally and in writing.


    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Knowledge of basic hand tools and hand power tools.
    • Must be able to safely operate forklift and other organizational vehicles.
    • Must be mechanically inclined.
    • Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet applications, and presentation software applications, such as Microsoft Office programs.
    • Excellent interpersonal, planning, and organizational skills.
    • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
    • Ability to actively demonstrate the TEEX Values - Safety, Teamwork, Adaptability, Respect, and Stewardship.


    Equipment:
    • Standard office equipment: computer, keyboard, multifunctional printer, telephone.
    • Heavy equipment operation: Forklift, pallet jack and hand truck.
    • Hand and power tools such as drills, saws, and grinders.
    • Occasional use of agency vehicles.


    Notifications:
    • This position is security sensitive.
    • This position may require work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends.
    • This position requires compliance with state and federal laws/codes and Texas A&M University System/TEEX regulations and procedures.
    • All tasks and job responsibilities must be performed safely without injury to self or others in compliance with System and Agency safety requirements.
    • Ability to travel independently to other and/or remote locations by driving a personal or TEEX vehicle.


    Essential Duties, Tasks, and Percentages:

    Warehouse, Cache Operations - 70%
    • Maintains interior and exterior of task force fleet vehicles.
    • Assists with cache inventory and maintenance of tools and equipment
    • Maintains a clean and orderly warehouse including the climate-controlled area.
    • Utilizes assisted-lift equipment such as a forklift or pallet jack to load, unload, or move containers and equipment.


    Data Entry - 25%
    • Creates and/or updates existing Task Force cache database.


    Other Duties - 5%
    • Takes all appropriate measures to prevent loss, theft, or damage to any TEEX property.
    • Immediately reports any loss, theft, or damage to TEEX property to any supervisor.
    • Provides and maintains work schedule based upon school schedule.
    • Performs additional work duties as assigned.
