This full-time Recreation Leader II position is a hands-on facilitator who supports participants during programs, leads engaging activities, and helps create a safe, respectful, and empowering environment for all. This role is perfect for someone with strong interpersonal skills, creativity, and a heart for inclusive service.
The ideal candidate will have experience in:
- Planning, implementing, and evaluatingrecreation programs for youth, teens, and adults with developmental, physical, emotional, and/or learning disabilities
- Providing physical assistance to participants as needed (excluding personal care services)
- Modifying activities to meet individual abilities and accommodate participant limitations
- Ensuring activities are age- and ability-appropriate, such as offering step-by-step instructions or using adaptive equipment for physical impairments
- Developing, implementing, and evaluating individual behavior plans
- Communicating regularly with parents/guardians to share updates on participation, accomplishments, upcoming activities, and behavior-related incidents
- Cleaning and maintaining activity areas daily, including mopping, sweeping, washing dishes, emptying trash, and organizing storage spaces
- Safely operating motor vehicles

- A minimum of six months experience in a customer service position.
Licensing, Certifications, and Other Requirements - Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted driver's license with no major citations within the past 39 months prior to the start date. The Arizona Department of Motor Vehicles requires that out-of-state driver's licenses must be surrendered within 10 days of relocating to the State of Arizona.
- Graduated licenses are considered restricted and therefore not acceptable for driving positions with the City of Scottsdale.
- Successfully complete driving training, first aid, and safety classes.
- A valid food handler's license ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire or promotion is required for the Concessions Assignment.
- Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.
