    Job Summary

    The Administrative Support Assistant provides clerical assistant to the Department Chair and Coordinator, serves as a backup in the coordinator's absence, and manages general departmental services and information for faculty and students.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Administers front/general office, supervises one or more student assistant(s). Prepares curriculum information and class scheduling documents.
    • Assists students with questions, prepares forms for students, and solves administrative and departmental problems for students.
    • Assigns course permits and keeps records of students taking CE 404, 408, 697 and 698, and CEM 409 courses.
    • Designs charts, formats, and displays for presentation of information to assist coordinators and Department Chair in decision making.
    • Responsible for textbook ordering. Acts as liaison between the textbook publisher and faculty.
    • Provides clerical support to Department Chair, Faculty, and Administrative Coordinator.
    • Responsible for department office supplies, forms, and stationery procurements.


    Knowledge Skills and Abilities

    Knowledge of university and office procedures, accounting, travel arrangements, campus rules and regulations and department procedures. Computer literacy is vital to the meet the daily requirements as an Administrative Support Assistant II. Many assignments and forms are geared to ever-changing software programs which the employee is expected to adjust to. • Ability to interact and work well with a diverse community to provide cohesive bond between department, faculty and students is important.

    Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."

    Education and Experience

    Equivalent to three years of administrative support experience required.

    Physical Summary

    Sedentary work - Involves mainly sitting. Walking and standing are minimal. Lifting is limited to lightweight objects. (10 pounds or less).

    Compensation

    Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

    CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $3,565 (Step 1) - $5,092 (Step 10) per month.

    Time Base

    1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week.

    Duration of Appointment

    This is a temporary position for one year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
