*Subject to change DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
•Prepare, conduct and facilitate HIV/STD general and specialized training sessions for educational development for Houston Health Department (HHD) employees, HHD funded Community Based Organizations and community members.
•Ensure outcome evaluations are completed after each training session to ensure materials being provided are up to date, relevant and feedback is received from training participants.
•Assist in the development of curriculum training manuals and other instructional HIV/STI training materials.
•Consults with other HIV/STI capacity-building assistance programs to facilitate trainings.
•Work collaboratively with Bureau leadership in the facilitation of prevention task forces, community advisory groups and other community engagement efforts.
•Apply appropriate behavioral theories and evidence-based models to plan, organize, implement and evaluate health education and health promotion programming in various settings including churches, CBO’s, community planning groups, civic groups and other city departments whenever possible.
•Perform evaluation activities including but not limited to applying and adapting appropriate data collection instruments, collecting and managing data, preparing reports and participating in quality assurance activities.
•Utilize various inter-disciplinary, communication and marketing techniques to promote and disseminate actionable health and wellness information and advocate for health equity.
WORKING CONDITIONS The position is physically comfortable, the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Education, Personnel Management or a related field.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Three years of professional personnel experience involving training in a formal classroom setting and/or the development of curriculum and lesson plans for adult learners are required. Pertinent training experience on a professional level may be substituted for the above educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
Requires a valid Texas driver’s license and compliance with the City of Houston policy of driving.
PREFERENCES **Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.** • Working knowledge of HIV (history, epidemiological profile, transmission, prevention, treatment, sociopolitical issues)
•Demonstrated experience working in the HIV prevention, care and/or treatment field
•Excellent written, oral, presentation, facilitation and interpersonal skills
•Demonstrated experience working with professional and clinical staff
•Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and ability to work comfortably with communities highly impacted by HIV.
GENERAL INFORMATION SELECTION/SKILLS TESTS REQUIRED

GRANT FUND POSITIONGrants & Special funded positions are dependent upon continued available funds. If funding is no longer available, employee may be laid off or transferred.
