    The Position

    Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.

    Incumbents perform journey level duties and may serve as a lead worker to lower level IT staff as assigned. This is a supervisory level for the Computer Operations function.

    Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency. Incumbents identify and decide how to resolve problems themselves or through appropriate referral; use utilities to check for network connectivity; and establish user rights. The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is recruiting for a vacancy located in the Bureau of Information Technology Services unit in Las Vegas, Nevada. Under direct supervision and direction of the IT Professional 3, this position will provide tier one and two support to the agency helpdesk in the Southern Region of Nevada and its clients by addressing video conferencing, hardware repair, general users request and inventory requests through the agency ticketing system, phone, and email support, as well as desk side. The incumbent will aid and provide direction to staff regarding offered services and their application, conducting research, and advising on the best use of electronic media, read and understand user manuals pertaining to the equipment plus maintain all related software licenses.

    To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and two years of professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, applications analysis and development, and/or information security; OR two years of experience as an IT Professional I in Nevada State service; OR four years of relevant technical experience as an IT Technician IV or above in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Notes Applicants for positions in this series may have a combination of complementary education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities that qualify for the class level and specialty being recruited. Special Requirements Some positions require statewide travel. A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. Additional Position Criteria Network switches and routers. Systems administration. Tier 2 support. Driver's license. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.
