Job Description and Duties STATE PARK PEACE OFFICER (RANGER/LIFEGUARD) - STATEWIDE RECRUITMENT This is a Peace Officer Position. To be eligible, you must meet the minimum qualifications established by the Department of Human Resources AND either be currently eligible or eligible for reinstatement as a PC 830.2, California State Peace Officer. Incumbents may perform specialized assignments in cliff rescue; ski patrol; scuba diving; ocean, surf, river, and lake rescue; horse patrol; off-road vehicle and motorcycle patrol; or as a canine team handler. Incumbents are required to use protective equipment. The equipment includes various types of firearms, batons, chemical agents, and handcuffs. Job Description and Duties PARK AIDE (SEASONAL) - INLAND EMPIRE DISTRICT / MOUNT SAN JACINTO STATE PARK Priority consideration will be given to any person receiving State public assistance under the CalWORKS program. Applicants who receive State public assistance need to identify their status as a CalWORKS recipient in the comments area on the application. Job Description and Duties LIFEGUARD I (SEASONAL) - INLAND EMPIRE DISTRICT / SILVERWOOD LAKE STATE RECREATION AREA Priority consideration will be given to any person receiving State public assistance under the CalWORKS program. Applicants who receive State public assistance need to identify their status as a CalWORKS recipient in the comments area on the application. The Lifeguard I (Seasonal) reporting location is Silverwood Lake State Recreation Area, 14651 Cedar Circle, Hesperia, CA, 92345. The Seasonal Lifeguard I works under the immediate supervision of the State Park Peace Officer Supervisor (Ranger) and under the direction of the Seasonal Lifeguard II, Lifeguard P.I., or on-duty State Park Peace Officer. The Inland Empire District consists of Lake Perris State Recreation Area, Chino Hills State Park, California Citrus State Historic Park, Mount San Jacinto State Park, Silverwood Lake State Recreation Area, Providence Mountain State Park, San Timoteo Canyon State Park, and Wildwood Canyon State Park. All parks listed are managed by a State Park Superintendent V and further organized into the following functions: Visitor Services, Aquatic Services, Maintenance Services, and Administrative Services. Peak season dates are May 1 st through September 30 th and Seasonal Lifeguards are expected to work most weekends and holidays during this timeframe. This position is intermittent and may work up to 189 days in a 12-month period. Schedules are written monthly, and hours vary based on operational need. If hired, Seasonal Lifeguards will complete a paid 80-hour training program before being assigned to lifeguard duties. This training program will start on June 9 th , 2024. Training will be held at Lake Perris State Recreation Area. This position requires a valid California class ‘C’ driver’s license.
