Here are some tips to keep things moving.<\/p>\n<p><b>Get a Job Search Buddy<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Find a fellow job-seeker.\u00a0 The person does not need to be searching in your same field.\u00a0 Connect with this person weekly to encourage each other and share ideas.\u00a0\u00a0 This can be a virtual job search buddy or your next door neighbor.\u00a0 The secret is to find an upbeat, motivated person so this does not turn into a weekly time to commiserate.\u00a0 Instead this weekly communication should invigorate you for the coming week.<\/p>\n<p><b>Create a Job Search Plan<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The job search plan will be your daily guide.\u00a0 Part one of your plan details the activities you will complete on a daily and weekly basis to connect with those organizations and to identify job opportunities.\u00a0 Your activities will include goal setting, online networking, <a title=\"real world networking\" href=\"http:\/\/careersdonewrite.com\/blog\/be-a-joiner-joining-groups-to-help-you-get-ahead.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">real world networking<\/a>, research, searching online job boards, r\u00e9sum\u00e9 modification, interview practice, and follow-up.\u00a0\u00a0 Part two of your plan is the tracking of your job search activities. Make note of networking contacts made, responses to your r\u00e9sum\u00e9, and job interviews.\u00a0 Evaluate your activities and determine which activities, networking forums, job boards are most fruitful.<\/p>\n<p><b>Continuously Assess your Career Goal<\/b><\/p>\n<p>If you have been searching for a risk analyst position with the USPS for eight months and have not had a single response, you must assess your career goal.\u00a0 Review the job requirements carefully.\u00a0 Perhaps you are shy of the requisite experience, job knowledge, or soft skills. This analysis will lead you to set a new plan that may include additional education, changing your primary career goal, adding secondary goals, or sticking to your original goal.\u00a0 To avoid a job search stall, assess your career goal every six weeks.<\/p>\n<p><b>Stay Active<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Woody Allen once said. \u201cEighty percent of success in life is just showing up.\u201d\u00a0 That is so true in job searching.\u00a0 Staying active is eighty percent of success in job searching.\u00a0 Fight inertia!
