Then work your way backward to high school. If you&#8217;ve earned a bachelor\u2019s degree or higher, you may include high school information if it is within 10 years.<b><i>\u00a0<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">Bachelor of Science, Fire Management \u2013<\/span><b style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\"> <\/b><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">University of Oregon \u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">2007<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Associate of Science, Fire Technology \u2013 Las Positas College \u00a0 2003<b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Guideline 2:<\/span><\/b><b> <\/b><i>Include your GPA<\/i><i> only if it is higher than 3.0<\/i>.\u00a0 If it has been more than 3 years since you graduated do not include it.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">Bachelor of Science, Fire Management \u2013<\/span><b style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\"> <\/b><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">University of Oregon \u2013 GPA: 3.85 \u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">2007<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Guideline 3:<\/span><\/b><b style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">\u00a0 <\/b><i style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">Please mention any Academic Honors you have achieved.<\/i><b style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">\u00a0\u00a0 <\/b><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">This shows that you are a good learner and the fire service will appreciate that.\u00a0 Other honors will be listed later under another category called \u201c<\/span>Accomplishments<span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Bachelor of Science, Fire Management \u2013<b> <\/b>University of Oregon \u2013 GPA: 3.85 \u00a0\u00a02007 \u00a0Dean\u2019s List<\/p>\n<p><b style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Guideline 4:<\/span><\/b><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">\u00a0 <\/span><i style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">If you did not finish or graduate, list the Major course of study, dates that you attended and how many credits you earned.<\/i><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">\u00a0 Then list high school information if applicable.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Fire Management \u2013 U. of Oregon \u2013 30 credits completed with GPA: 3.85\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a02005-Present<b><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Guideline 5:<\/span><\/b><b>\u00a0 <\/b>If you did not finish high school, show the years attended. If you earned a GED, put that above the high school listing, and indicate the date.<\/p>\n<p>GED High School Diploma Equivalent \u2013 Owens Adult Education Center \u00a02001<\/p>\n<p><b style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Guideline 6:<\/span><\/b><b style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">\u00a0 <\/b><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">If you have obtained any license(s) or professional certification(s) in addition to high school and\/or college these will also go under a separate category called Certifications and Qualifications.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>There you have it.\u00a0 The Education section in its uncomplicated fashion.\u00a0 Simply stated, \u201ctell the facts and the story tells itself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In our next segment on Fire Service resumes we\u2019ll cover the topic of Certifications and Qualifications.\u00a0 As I close let me leave you with this.\u00a0 Education is not something you just get through.\u00a0 It is and will continue to be an integral part of your career.\u00a0 The days of ONLY getting your formal degree or vocational certification are long past.\u00a0 You are now part of the work force who are considered \u201cLife Long Learners.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There are many people who are working on education well into their later years.\u00a0 Stanford University, the prestigious West Coast University, is now offering fellowships for its \u201cDistinguished Careers Institute.\u201d\u00a0 Founded by Dr. Philip A. He entered the fire service as a Community Fire Aide for the Milpitas Fire Department in 1996 and completed an internship with the South Santa Clara County Fire Protection District and Cal Fire in 1997. Bob was then employed as an Emergency Medical Technician for American Medical Response. He was hired by The Contra Costa County Fire Protection District in 1999, promoted to Fire Engineer in 2002, Captain in 2005 and Shift Battalion Chief in 2011 and is currently assigned to Battalion 8. Chief Atlas oversees almost $30 million in Local, State and Federal grants for training, apparatus, equipment and staffing. Atlas has instructed at the CCCFPD Fire Academy and other fire academies in the area. He is a California State Fire Marshal certified Fire Officer and Fire Instructor I. He is a former member of FEMA US&amp;R, California Task Force 4 and The CCCFPD Technical Rescue Program. Bob is a member of the East Bay Incident Management Team and assigned to the Operations Section. Atlas is also serves on The CCCPFD career development committee and is a Certified Oral Board Rater for the fire district. Bob is responsible for the fire districts fire apparatus committee. He has been coaching entry-level candidates since 1999 and promotional candidates since 2005. Bob is one of three Owners of Fire Alumni a leader in public safety training &amp; education since 2004. Bob holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from The University of Massachusetts and an Associates of Science in Fire Science from Mission College. Chief Atlas has been married for 22 years to his beautiful wife Teresa; they have 3 children and reside in Brentwood, Ca. His philosophy in life is simple...
