Now that it is 2017, it is time for a clean slate.\u00a0 New beginnings can often be scary, but moving forward will always benefit you in the end.\u00a0 Take the risk to try something new.<\/p>\n

Something many people are doing to make a fresh start for themselves involves exploring careers in several different fields.<\/p>\n

One of those fields includes Careers In Government<\/a>.\u00a0 These jobs include a multitude of opportunities.\u00a0 While one would expect jobs such as district attorney, that is not all there is to a government job.<\/p>\n

Opportunities include a wide array of fields.\u00a0 There are positions in public housing and other departments that serve a local city.<\/p>\n

Some medical jobs, such as radiologist and nurse, can be hired by a local county or even the state.\u00a0 Of course, this depends on the type of hospital, and who funds it.<\/p>\n

Do not be afraid to dare yourself and explore.\u00a0 Opportunities are boundless.<\/p>\n

However, there are certain skills<\/a> that employers are looking for.\u00a0 This does not just pertain to government jobs.\u00a0 Certain requirements are demanded in any job.<\/p>\n

One such requirement – computer skills – goes far in today\u2019s job market.\u00a0 You may have the basic skills to perform a certain job.<\/p>\n

But, don\u2019t think that word processing will be looked upon highly.\u00a0 That is now part of the basic necessities for a job.\u00a0 You need to know more than them.<\/p>\n

For example, if you get hired as a journalist, having knowledge of content management systems – or CMS – and graphic design software, will put you higher on the list than a person without those skills.<\/p>\n

Why?<\/p>\n

Because journalists are now expected to do it all.\u00a0 Write the story, edit it, and then create some sort of art, or edit a photo they took.\u00a0 Newspapers have cut back on budgets, so journalists have to do it all, now. \u00a0The same is true with government jobs<\/a>.\u00a0 You have to know how to do multiple tasks in order to get the job done.\u00a0 No longer is it acceptable to just know basic skills.<\/p>\n

Another highly-valued skill is reliability.\u00a0 If employers know they can count on you, it will work well in your favor when it comes to your annual review.<\/p>\n

Being dependable will far outweigh any small mistakes you\u2019ve made.\u00a0 It may even help you get a raise or a promotion.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s all about being part of the team.\u00a0 If you can show you are a team player, your bosses will look upon your favorably.\u00a0 But, that\u2019s not all.<\/p>\n

A third important skill is organization.\u00a0 This is especially true for a government job such as a cabinet member, nurse<\/a> or any other government worker.<\/p>\n

Since almost everything is done through computer systems and kept online, you won\u2019t need as many cabinets as in the past.\u00a0 However, you do need a way to keep your computer work organized.<\/p>\n

Creating task lists, and files on your desktop, are two ways to help keep yourself organized.\u00a0 They will help you get to your documents faster, which is necessary when things get busy.\u00a0 If you aren\u2019t organized at the office, your work pace will slow down, and so will your production.<\/p>\n

As we start a new year, it is time for a clean slate.\u00a0 Forget about the hardships you faced in 2016.\u00a0 Now is the time to create something new.<\/p>\n

Creating a new professional life for yourself is one of the best ways to wipe the slate clean.\u00a0 So, dare yourself to start today, and move forward with your life.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
