LAX is the fourth busiest airport in the world, second in the United States, and was named Skytrax\u2019 2017 Top 10 Most Improved Airports.\u00a0 LAX served more than 80.9 million passengers in 2016.\u00a0 LAX offers 737 daily nonstop flights to 100 cities in the U.S. and 1,386 weekly nonstop flights to 88 cities in 44 countries on 73 commercial air carriers.\u00a0 LAX ranks 14th in the world and fifth in the U.S. in air cargo tonnage processed, with more than 2.2 million tons of air cargo valued at over $101.4 billion.<\/p>\n

O<\/span>n September 13, 2017, the International Olympic Committee officially announced that the City of Angels will host the 2028 Summer Games. By the time 2028 rolls around it will have been 44 years since the Summer Games were hosted in Los Angeles in 1984, and 32 years since the Games were hosted in the United States. Although the 2028 Summer Games might seem like they\u2019re in the distant future, preparations are already being made at the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

LAX Is Getting Ready to Serve as the Gateway to Los Angeles for Olympians and Fans<\/span><\/h4>\n

Los Angeles World Airports<\/a> is currently under construction with an approximately $14 billion modernization project well underway. What is considered to be the largest public works improvement program in the city\u2019s history began in 2009 and is expected to bring more than 121,000 good-paying construction jobs to the area. The modernization project is expected to be completed in 2023- in plenty of time for the Olympic Games. <\/span><\/p>\n
