font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;\">\u201cBut what if their work usually has mistakes?\u201d<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;\"><o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;\">\u201cBut what if there is a hard deadline?\u201d<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;\"><o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; font-weight: normal;\">What is the secret to getting your teammates to be more reliable?<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;\"><o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;\">Well, you have three pretty clear options:<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;\">1. Accept that people at times are going to be imperfect or late and just live with the results.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;\">2. Change your team (get a new job or get rid of the unreliable coworker)<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;\">3. Learn how to share<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><em><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;\">reminders and encouragements<\/span><\/em><span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>that produce the behaviors you need<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;\">\u00a0<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;\">If one and two aren\u2019t realistic options for you, then<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif; font-weight: normal;\">option three becomes vital!<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;\">The truth is that you only get the best out of people who are sometimes unreliable if<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif; font-weight: normal;\">you take responsibility<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif; font-weight: normal;\">for sharing the reminders and encouragements<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>that will inspire them to see the behavior you want as a priority.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;\">Sometimes good people look back to point and blame others for mistakes&#8230; I call those<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif; font-weight: normal;\">rearview criticisms.<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;\">In basketball, a review criticism is \u201c<em><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;\">Why didn\u2019t you block out that last shot?<\/span><\/em>\u201d<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;\">In business, a rearview criticism might be \u201c<em><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;\">Why didn\u2019t you get that paperwork in?<\/span><\/em>\u201d\u00a0<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;\">But nobody can go back and change the past.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;\">So don&#8217;t waste your time or upset members of your team with rearview criticisms\u2026 <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;\">instead, focus on what you CAN CONTROL, and commit to giving<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif; font-weight: normal;\">reminders and encouragements.<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;\">Instead of complaining after the fact, winning teammates take the initiative to remind and encourage before!<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;\">Do and say what you need to so others are ready to<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><em><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;\">make the next play.<\/span><\/em>\u00a0<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;
