The following tips will help you on that aspect:<\/p>\n<p><strong>It all starts with self-respect<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you do not have self-respect you do not have the confidence and if you do not have the confidence, you cannot succeed in anything. So the first important criterion to get ahead in the race to gain the respect of your colleagues is the requirement for immense self-respect. Self-respect comes with good work\u00ad\u00ad\u2013life balance. You should also have the ability to communicate with confidence as it is important not only to have self-respect but also make it visible to others.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Being punctual is an early start<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Punctuality is the mark of a person who has great control over his\/her life and who takes his\/her job sincerely. If you are chronic late-comer, it will give a bad impression of you amongst your colleagues and may create an image of an irresponsible person. So if you are thinking of earning the respect of your colleagues, be punctual.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Be nice yet show a level of assertiveness<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It is always good to be nice but nice does not mean you let others run you down by the competition that is present in a workplace. That is why it is very critical for you to show a high level of assertiveness and stand up when it is needed. Yes, it may at first seem a minor part for earning respect but it is a huge one. Deadlines can be translated into commitments and if you can meet a deadline it shows your ability to be true to the commitments that you make.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Be brave enough to accept your mistakes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When you work with a team and if you have made a mistake or two, you should always be brave enough to accept it. Do not make up excuses to transform the fault to someone else and show that you will be careful next time. It shows your positive attitude and your ability to perform in a team.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gossiping is not an art <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Remember that even if everybody likes gossips nobody likes the person who does it. So do not go around gossiping with your colleagues. Behave professionally yet be a bit interactive and show how you care about their lives. Do you want to be seen as someone who always delays the project? No, that is why always be prepared about everything and do things confidently. Update your skills and become a problem solver instead. Some people might be better at some things than you. You should give proper respect to their skills and abilities. One has to earn that respect and it is not easy. And when it comes to workplace\u2014with so much competition\u2014it is never that easy.
