The Village of Glencoe is a beautiful, historic community with a population of approximately 8,800. It is located in the North Shore region of northern Cook County along Lake Michigan, approximately 20 miles north of downtown Chicago. Glencoe has a vibrant downtown, historic neighborhoods with a variety of architectural styles and has the third-largest concentration of homes designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Additionally, Glencoe is home to Writers Theatre, natural amenities including the Glencoe Beach along Lake Michigan and the Green Bay Trail, and is adjacent to the Chicago Botanic Garden. The Village is a non-home rule, special charter municipality which operates under the council-manager form of government. The Village is a full-service community, comprised of the Finance Department,; Glencoe Golf Club, Public Works Department, consolidated Public Safety Department (police, fire and EMS), and Village Manager's Office.
