University Park, a predominantly residential community of more than 23,000 residents, is located approximately five miles north of downtown Dallas, Texas. The City is the home of Southern Methodist University and the George W. Bush Presidential Center.  It is also known for its attractive homes, beautiful parks, and numerous churches. The location of University Park in north-central Dallas provides easy access to a broad range of cultural, recreational, shopping, and business activities.

Prepares correspondence and generates reports related to the field inspection of various occupancies in a clear and concise manner. Accurately reflects the findings of the inspection in a manner that ensures compliance with departmental procedures and applicable fire codes. Inspection of hazardous materials to include storage, handling, and use of flammable and combustible liquids and gases, to ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards.  Work with SMU risk management department to ensure fire code compliance with the storage, handling and reporting of hazardous substances located on campus.  Inspect fire protection and alarm systems to ensure proper installation, maintenance and functionality. Provide follow up on compliance deficiencies to ensure correction. Appropriately issue citations for reoccurring noncompliance or failure to correct.  Assists with public safety education programs and other special projects. Process permits and/or plan review applications to ensure that the issuance or denial is in accordance with city codes, standards, policies, and procedures. Attend meetings necessary to stay current on upcoming developments and building projects within the city.  Review building and construction plans submitted to the city to ensure compliance with life safety standards and fire code requirements. Respond to emergency scenes to assist with fire operations/suppression activities. Conduct fire cause/origin investigation in accordance with NFPA 921 and department policy. Assist in the process of emergency management coordination and disaster exercises. Oversee the maintenance and preparedness of the City's outdoor warning sirens and Emergency Operations Center.  Coordinates training and deployment of the Park Cities Citizens Emergency Response Team (CERT). Perform duties necessary to ensure success of the organizational objectives during the absence of the Fire Marshal and other duties as assigned. Attends and completes all training as required for certification requirements and departmental standards. Requires being on call for response to fire scenes and other job related duties after regular work hours as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.

Record, track and document service requests using the central helpdesk including all actions taken from initial contact to final resolution.   Perform hands-on fixes at the desktop level, including installing and upgrading software, installing hardware, and configuring systems and applications.   Perform a variety of service related tasks to include but not limited to assisting in software releases and developing training documents and FAQ lists for end users.   Assist the Applications Support Analyst with secondary application support for all non-public safety applications.
