Charlotte is the largest city in the Carolinas (nation's fifth largest urban region) and is located at the center of the Piedmont region. The City is two hours east of the Appalachian Mountains and 3 1/2 hours west of the Atlantic Ocean. The City of Charlotte is one of the area's largest employers with approximately 6,000 full-time employees.
