Santa Barbara is managed by the Council/City Administrator form of government. City government services are provided by ten departments: Administrative Services, Airport, Community Development, Finance, Fire, Library, Parks and Recreation, Police, Public Works, and Waterfront.  Our City Administrator is also the appointed City Clerk/Treasurer.  The City organization has 1,014 full-time equivalent employees, a $333 million budget for Fiscal Year 2017, and seven recognized bargaining units.  The Mayor, is elected at-large, and the six councilmembers are elected by district.
